History: Here!

Appearance:

Tall (174 cm), lean (50 kg), with blue eyes, blond hair and apparently very beautiful features that fit the image of a princess.

Personality:

The classic princess should be sweet, polite and courteous to all, but also must have keen insight and intelligence while possessing a hidden, iron will. If this is true, then shouldn’t it be logical for the Super High School Level/Ultimate Princess to be the paragon of all these traits?

Well, yes. Sonia Nevermind is all of these things… with a few rather unique traits.

Polite, spirited, and without a streak of the haughtiness associated with the stereotype of her title, Sonia Nevermind is the very essence of what a princess should be in terms of personality. Indeed, she takes great care to present herself as such. In addition to having the required political, economic and intellectual knowledge that a truly successful ruler should have, Sonia possess a very strong sense of manners. Everyone she encounters, from normal students to standoffish yakuza heirs, is worthy of respect, sympathy and courteous interaction. While some of her polite speech patterns may be due to her antiquated grasp of Japanese, it’s clear that her courteous tone is due to this belief. She refuses to treat others as inherently inferior people despite her status, and requests that they not insist on formalities around her in turn. While some princesses take a great deal of pride to the point of arrogance concerning their royal status, Sonia understands that while she is an important figurehead to her country and its people, her power is not absolute and that it would be more than haughty to demand that she be seen as more than human. Trivial and everyday tasks, such as cooking and cleaning, are not seen as beneath her. Instead, everyday activities that a princess isn’t “supposed” to do are seen as valuable learning experiences by Sonia, who recognizes that she is in a position of privilege. In times of trouble, she is also very willing to get her hands dirty, whether it be helping a fallen friend covered with blood to safety or testing out fake bombs to make sure they’re not actually explosives, in order to help solve the trials of their fallen friends. Even when those close to her die, she realizes that she cannot fall into despair, must put her fear aside, and live through Monokuma’s deadly game for the sake of her friends.

So it should be expected that Sonia is not the weeping princess waiting to be rescued in the castle by a hero. Sonia has a strong will in the direst of situations, from being involved in Monokuma’s killing game to actually being kidnapped by political enemies, and can retain a level head even when everyone else around her is not. When the deadly killing game is first revealed, Sonia’s reaction is to remain relatively calm, refuse to doubt or cast suspicion on her classmates, and to state that while she refuses to think the worst of her classmates, she has no intention to be passively killed either. While she refuses to suspect her friends and cast them as all potential murders, Sonia is aware that she must stick to the facts during a murder case and never attempts to conceal or lie about information during a trial even when she doesn’t want to cast guilt on any of her classmates. Despite being terrified for her classmates and deeply troubled by their violent actions, Sonia forces herself to keep a calm face during the distressing times of being trapped on the islands, knowing that her showing distress would result in even more for her friends during times of crisis.

Despite being so polite and proper, Sonia is by no means a reserved or inaccessible person. She is passionate when it comes to her interests and makes no attempts to hide or down play them. She is a huge fan of Japanese culture, dramas, and… serial killers and the occult. She is also and is very quick to state her love and passion for these things. As a devoted fan, she can easily roll off the names and plotlines of obscure Japanese TV dramas in an almost encyclopedic fashion (a testament to her good memory and intelligence, if anything), and is more than happy to share her interests with the people around her. While serial killers and the occult seem like very un-princess-like things to fangirl over (to the point of subscribing to occult and serial killer fan magazines), Sonia’s interest in them reveals a positive quality of hers. She understands that these things, particularly serial killers, are morally reprehensible, but are objectively fascinating due to their different set of values. To Sonia, these different values are extremely important to see and understand – even a sheltered princess can see that her own value system is not ubiquitous around the world, and to see vastly different worldviews is a very important part of becoming the worldly person she lives to be.

However, Sonia is by no means a perfect human being. Naiveté, gullibility and stubbornness come with the territory of being raised as a sheltered princess. It may chalk up to a language gap, but Sonia often fails to pick up on subtleties in conversations and innuendos directed towards her, and often takes metaphors quite literally. Being well-read in the customs and traditions of the outside world is one thing, but actually knowing them is another matter entirely- Sonia often mixes up customs and cultural traits, as well as expresses slight confusion and discomfort when her own cultural traditions are not recognized, and thus engages in (unintentional) cultural faux pas when she does so. While she is not one to demand for everything she wants as other princesses would, Sonia is quite stubborn at times and gets frustrated when things don’t go her way. She doesn’t expect the world to bow down for her, but she has lived a life where everything has been provided to her with ease, and thus it is easy for her to forget her politeness in a moment of frustration and demand that others cease speaking with impudence or forgetting who she is. In addition, while she is level headed and knows that the truth must be found out for the innocent students to survive the class trials, Sonia often lets her compassion get ahead of the harsh truth and is tearfully reluctant to believe in her classmate's guilty, often to the point of showing the aforementioned stubbornness.

Abilities:

Other than she's the ultimate princess, can speak and read 30 languages and has intricate knowledge of political discourse, serial killers and Japanese TV dramas from the 80’s, none!

SAMPLES;

First Person:

Here is a musebox thread, and a short D_M post!

Third Person:

Staying in a glorified hotel room on an island was a unique and exciting experience for a formerly sheltered princess, circumstances be dammed, but partially owning her own home was another entirely. It was a fairly sparse home, at that, and unwelcoming if she were a little more cynical. Her room was completely bare with only the necessities (a bed, a dresser, a mirror), and absolutely unsuited at best for someone used to living in absolute luxury. Any sensible royalty would turn their nose up the moment they stepped through the door.

What Sonia sees, however, is the opportunity she’s never had before, even with all the wealth and privilege she grew up in: decorating her own room.

It was an exciting prospect to the sheltered princess. She was never consulted for such “trivial” (or not, in her opinion, as it was an important endeavor to make sure your home was decorated properly) matters, and though she adored her historical castle of a home, there were times when she found the décor not quite to her slightly more modern taste.

After taking inventory of what she had (the furniture provided to her and the $500 dollars she found in the envelope addressed to her, mentally converted into a currency she was more familiar with), Sonia was off to the home supplies store as soon as her affairs were in order at home. As soon as she set foot in the store she was launching straight in to examining every last piece of furniture, cutlery and decoration with a gleam in her eyes not unlike a child at a candy emporium.

When she spots a store worker, however, she doesn’t run up with the impulsive energy one would expect of said child. Instead, as a princess should, she smiles politely, clasps her hands in front of her, and gracefully walks up to the employee.

“Please excuse me! If it does not trouble you, I would like to see your entire collection of draperies!”

Housing Request?:

If I may do so in this application, I would like to request that Gau be moved from the child slot in 1478 to 1448 and for Sonia to be placed into the spouse slot of 1478!

Did you read the rules and FAQ?: Yep!
